The New York Times has published a piece today on new therapeutic approaches to tinnitus:

What type of doctor or clinic would one go to for getting a therapy for tinnitus?

Interesting read. Actually, my wife has a teacher at her school with tinitus (she's had it for a long time) that SWEARS there are certain brands and types of fans (the things that blow air around the room !?!?) that help create a "white noise" that reduces her tinitus.. Heh. She actually asked my wife if she could buy me one as her way of helping.
Has anyone heard of using fans to decrease the church bells in our heads?
I've found that if I turn on a radio it helps me get to sleep. I think it just refocuses my attention to something other than the ringing. It works well for me most nights. That is until I get kicked from the other side of the bed for tapping my foot to the music during the night. ;)
