Title: How are the tags assigned?
Post by: Kate B on February 24, 2008, 09:01:50 am
Phyl, et al,

How are the tags assigned?
When does one cross over from a junior member to a senior member?
What makes one a hero member?
What are all of the various tags?

Just curious..
Kate

Hi Kate:  I can help with this question:  It goes by the # of posts you have.
I didn't realize it either, until mine changed - I forget if it's 100 or 150 for Full member, etc.
I'm not sure what # makes what tag, but that's the gist of it.

I believe the designations for individual members are: 'Newbie' (0-20 posts),'Jr.Member' (21-100 posts), 'Senior member' (101-500 posts), 'Hero Member' (501 + posts) and Omnipotent Member (1001+ posts).  Just kidding about the last one.  :) Hero Member is the highest designation available for 501 or more posts.  They are automatically applied (via the messageboard's software program) to an individual member based on the number of posts you have submitted, to date.  In other words, based on quantity, but not necessarily quality.  The designations are intended to acknowledge the poster's contributions to the forums.   Most folks don't even notice them but some do.  I think it's a worthwhile feature that confers some recognition on those who are diligent and committed to the site and the forums.  Nothing wrong with that, even if every single post isn't always a model of edification.  Most are worth reading.

Just to be Mr. Techie, and to notch up another post for myself, I will point out that it is 'Full Member' at 100, and 'Senior Member' at 250.

Your still a hero in my book, Jim.  ;)

These are the default values in the software . and could be changed to other messages counts or tags...

Thanks everyone.  So it is not length of time, it is number of posts and it is tracked through a program. This post might be number 100 now making me a full member:-)

Kate:

Congratulations on becoming a Full Member!  I hated being a Half Member.  Being a Quarter Member was even worse.   ;)

Steve:  I stand corrected on the designations and required post counts required to reach them.  I was working from memory and that is always risky.  However, I appreciate the clarification - and the compliment.  I still like the 'Omnipotent Member' idea.  ;)

Sage Jim :)
Full Member is perfect!

Yes,  I couldn't quite figure out how I was called a "Newbie" (tagged that way up until recently),when I have been on the list since 2001 (albeit the ANA changed formats in 2005) That's what happens when one takes a sabbatical from the list ;D
Kate

P.S.  Phyl... I agree with Jan, you are to be commended.

Does being a "Senior Member" have anything to do with "Senior Moments"???  ;D
