Title: WHAT IS THIS SQUEEZING IN MY FACE?
Post by: CROOKEDSMILE on February 23, 2008, 01:08:29 pm
I HAVE FACIAL PARALYSIS BUT HAVE TIGHT SQUEEZING IN MY CHEEK. IS THAT THE MUSCLES WAKING UP OR SOMETHING BAD LIKE CONTRACTURES OR HEMIFACIAL SPASMS? I AM 7 MONTHS POST OP. WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE WHEN THE MUSCLES AND NERVES START TO RECOVER?

I never had that feeling, so maybe it's a good thing?

I got that right around the time my face started to move… it was the weak muscle firing ...that had been dormant for so long…

I had that too - for me it seems to be about when the muscle started to move.  I'm not sure if that's why yours is doing it, but maybe.  I felt pain/pressure right under my cheekbone and after a while, it would feel tired, like you've just overused a muscle.  I also have synkinesis in that muscle, so it contracts every time I try to close my eye, which probably explains why the muscle tires.  I can only imagine it would be tired considering how many time that eye tries to close when I blink.

If you're not already seeing a facial PT, now might be to time to consult one to try to get all the right parts moving at the right time.
