Hi Tammi, nice to meet you.   Neuromuscular facial retraining is basically for those who had facial paralysis post surgery, & are beginning to have
movement return.   As soon as movement starts (I was told) is when you go for this training.   It's suppose to stop/decrease synkenesis from
occuring.    I never regained movement so I never had the facial retraining.

Tammi, I saw Todd at UPMC for facial retraining. I did have some movement and with his help I improved from 30 - 65%. He uses biofeedback training. It was a great experience. I learned a lot. However be prepared to stare at face in a mirror for lengths of time. That was difficult emotionally.

Hi Tammi,
I am looking for someone in the western Washington area who does this kind of training.   I had my surgery in May and about   5  1/2 months later I started having real problems with the nerves connecting up wrong.  My eye closes when I eat - and also some when I am speaking.... I don't really want to travel all the way to Atlanta .... but I can't find anyone here.  If you hear of anyone trained in my area I would really appreciate the info.  I live in southwest Washinton - so even someone in Portland, OR would be close enough.
Thanks,
Margaret

Tammi,
I live in SC and drive 3 1/2 hours to receive Occupational Therapy from Gaye. I had Gamma Knife in June 07 i n Augusta. 3 months post GK, I developed facial paralysis. I have been going to Atlanta since Dec 07. She is helping me with my face and my balance. I am getting some return, but still have a ways to go. I make the trip monthly. I even saw the doctor that she works with for a consultation last month. It was well worth the time. She is an encouraging therapist and I highly recommend her. Good luck !
