Title: RED EYE !
Post by: satman on November 03, 2007, 09:35:05 am
I thought I would run this by you guys.
I had a eye weight put in oct 15th. I have noticed that my eye is extremely red compared to my good one.
I have excessive sleep build-up in my eye.
Heres the grose part, the sleep build up is almost a yellow color and runny ,like the lacrilube has turned colors
and the buildup is runny. [sorry for the description folks].
What really has me puzzled is that it does not hurt, could this be a good sign,as far as tear production ?
If it was a infection would it not hurt ?
As usual with this AN thing,I HAVE HAD ENOUGH !
Monday will be my 1 st day back to work since april ,WITH A [explicit lyric] RED EYE !

I'm not sure why, but I too had bad red eye a few weeks after my weight surgery... but it is better that ever now... so give it time.. keep up with with the lube...

I wash the yuckyness in the eye in the shower .... make sure there are no eyelashes in there... and it will get better...

(are you using an electric shaver?.. if so -- stop.. at least for me.. its was better when I stopped --- I think litttle bits were getting in my eyes...)

Hey John:  Yellowish discharge can be a sign of infection - & no, there doesn't have to be pain.  It could be irritation like Joe said, but to be sure I would suggest going to your opthamologist ASAP - meaning don't go to work Monday (I'm sure your coworkers will understand).

I see one of the best eye DR. in dallas, when I asked him about the
yellow discharge he made a joke ,which Im sure you can figure out.
So it's my understanding that he did not think any big deal about it.
I will make a call 1st thing monday,Nancy, you came to my mind immediately because I know you
had issues with the weight, what were your symptoms ?.
After using visine my eye does not seem as red,is that a good sign as far as infections are concerned ?

Well, if the opthamologist wasn't concerned about a yellow discharge, seems weird to me but okay, I'm no expert, that's for sure - I think it smart that you'll call him anyway.
My problem with the weight was an allergic reaction to it - my symptoms were redness & swelling on the eyelid right where the weight was. (I'm hoping when I have the platinum weight put in Nov. 20th, I won't react to that too!).   Okay, good luck with the red eye & gobledeegook!.

Nancy,if your still out there,
My DR. said the yellow discharge is from
the incision/stitch in the corner of my eye.
Does that make sense to you ?

Hi John - I can't imagine you would be having a yellowish discharge more than 2 weeks after the eye repair, but since your doc isn't concerned...   Is the skin in that area reddened at all, or warmer than the area around it? (other signs of infection).  I don't know, seems weird to me, but your doc's the specialist...
Hey - good luck returning to work tomorrow - boy, was I wiped out when I first went back (still do get that way but not as bad....).
Always good thoughts,  Nancy

Hi
I skeeve eye things.  Partly because I'm grossed out by them.  I stopped reading part way through!  I'd be calling anyone and everyone, including the NS and EENT offices.   After surgery they gave me a list of things to watch for and call them about.  One was eye discharge.  AN care is not something a Ophthamologist is super familiar with since it's not that common.

Skeeve-a feeling similar to walking on sugar barefoot on a linoleum floor.
