Hello everyone, wish me luck and pray for me. While I was in the US I finally made a decission. I made the appointments for surgery and radiation in May when I found out the Surgeon had a 3 month waiting list, because I knew that once I made a decission I wanted it to go fast. I go in the Hospital Wed 19 Sept, 2 days of Tests (here normal procedure) and have surgery Fri 21 Sept. I had a great visit with my parents (50th Anniversary) and the rest of my family and friends. It really helped keep my mind off of what is soon to come. I'm gettting really nervios now and not sleeping well (may also be Jetlag). I want to say thank you again to everyone, if it wasn't for this sight I'm not sure what I woul have done. I'll write again as soon as possible.

Tag, Dan:
I realize that simply coming to a decision to either radiate or surgically address your AN was difficult and so, I commend you for doing so.
I wish you a successful surgical experience along with a rapid and total recovery. You'll be in my prayers for your September 21st surgery.

Hi Dan in Germany, just a quick best wishes on your surgery, I always hope for the best on every AN procedure - every one of them matters. You have set your sail, now you can rest and let the process unfold. You will soon be a postie.

Glad to meet you Dan.
First off, I whole heartedly agree with you...This place helped me maintan my sanity while awaiting my AN surg. I was diag. in Jan.07 and FINALLY had surg. on Aug 17th. It's been a long journey but one that has changed my life for the better. Life will eventually get back to "normal" I know that seems impossible, I am far from there myself, but I know in my heart that it is true. You will be fine. We will be there for you . Just like others before you have been the newbies, then posties, you will start your AN journey and reach the finish line before you know it!
Feel free to pm me if you like. I may be a little slow getting back to you but you will be in my prayers.
God be with you grant you peace as you await your surg.

we have a few things in common - I was diagnosed in April 2007 and my AN was on the left side also. I'm almost 47 (will be 46 next week) and our first names rhyme :D
I had surgery on 5/31 and know exactly the anxiety and sleepless nights you are experiencing.
The best of luck in your upcoming surgery, I'll keep you in my prayers. I'm confident you'll do fine.
Please let us know how your surgery went when you are well enough to post a message.

Jan,
We have something else in common, I also come from Illinois (Lincoln). I went by Hinsdale on Friday when I flew out of O'hara back to Germany.

Wait, so that is Dan, Jan, and Dr. Mann ????
I'm not sure I can stand this humor.
Didn't realize you're an Illinos native, Dan. I live very close to O'Hare (planes fly low over my house). I've actually been to Lincoln, my dad was in the House of Reps for a few years and I spent part of one summer in Springfield and Lincoln. Small world :)
Where in Germany are you? My parents got married in Bremmen about 54 years ago; my dad was in the Marines.
