I work on computers all day, but it is in a substation. I was just wondering is there electro magnetic fields around electrical substations? If so what effect would theyhave on AN..... Any ideas!!!!

kss4luck,
Any flow of electricty creates a magnetic field. To date, I haven't seen any well accepted studies that would indicate any causal or other effect on AN by magnetic fields.

thanks head case just wonder about this stuff

Acoustic neuroma tumors were detected (via autopsy) over 100 years ago. This leads to the conclusion that 'environmental' factors are likely not the cause. Unfortunately, no one really knows why they develop, just as we don't know why most cancers develop in otherwise healthy people. If working around electrical substations (or any environment that creates a magnetic field) caused AN tumors, I would think that they would be found in far higher numbers than is currently indicated. Of course, I could be wrong.

Someone told me Vincent Van Gogh had one has anyone else ever heard this??
-
Hey maybe that's why he cut his ear off. But serously, I'm 44 now, this most likely started growing before I had a cell phone or a computer. So I don't buy the whole electro magnetic thing... however, I do thing being on the computer too much does cause overall fatigue....So take care of yourself! Annie

Hey Kss4luck,
Vincent Van Gough had Miniere's disease, not an AN. But, they have pretty much similar symptoms..

Thanks Robin for the clarification! Annie
