Title: Surgery by Dr. Jacques Morcos and Dr. Simon Angeli, Univ. of Miami
Post by: beachinr on February 07, 2007, 05:48:44 pm
I am a 49 year old male who has recently been diagnosed with an AN less than 1cm in size. I am in the process of researching both surgery and radiosurgery. I had my consultations with neurologists, Dr. Jacques Morcos and Dr. Simon Angeli, who I have considered to perform the microsurgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Univ. of Miami.  I would like to hear your experience with these doctors and would you recommend the surgical procedure with them?

Thank you, beachinr.

Hi there beachinr:

I can't help with the doctors but wanted to say hi and welcome.

I am glad your AN is small.  Good luck with your future appointments and don't stop seeing doctors until you
KNOW which one is the best for the job.

Good luck to you, Kathy

Hello and welcome to our special club that no one wants to join.  I can't answer your question either, but wanted to welcome you and tell you that this place has some awesome people who are more than willing to share their knowledge with you. It's a great place for information and inspiration. And you can vent any frustrations or fears, too!  It's an all purpose forum, that's for sure.

Since your's is a small AN you do have some time to make your choices and to find the right treatment for you, whether it be surgery or a non-surgical treatment.

Best of luck to you with whatever you decide.

Sue in Vancouver USA

Hi there:
I had Morcos & Teleschi - they are excellent surgeons, however I ended up with facial paralysis.
I know Dr. Angeli did his fellowship at House Ear Institute (as did Telischi) & I've heard he's very good also.

You may want to consider researching radiation as an alternative, as others have said, your tumor is in the size for that treatment.(wish I HAD gone that route).

Good luck with whatever you choose,  Nancy

I'm new on the block, but I am very interested in your research at Jackson. I have a 1.2cm tumor, along with significant hearing loss, constant"white noise", some dizziness.....I had my first consult with Dr. Angeli at Jackson this past week - very impressed - but also confused. Considering that my tumor is small, am I a candidate for radiation even though I am symptomatic? I have heard wonderful things about the team at Jackson, and would love to be close to home. What are you thinking????Debgit
