Title: My case
Post by: peter0411 on August 07, 2024, 12:37:46 pm
Hi all,

looking for some help. Here's my story

-July 3 experienced hearing loss in my RIGHT ear
-went away within a day on its own
-Came back July 15 (same ear)
-Started Prednisone on July 17. On day 3 of prednisone, my hearing came back 100%
-Until now, Aug 7, my hearing has been normal, but I am feeling some numbness on my scalp/behind my ear but on my LEFT side.

Any thoughts??

Have you been officially diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma?

Marla, If you're the same person who wrote A Whole New Normal An Acoustic Neuroma Journey, your book has kept me sane over the past few months. I've read a few other books, but none were as honest and as helpful as your book.

When I started my journey and was just dealing with hearing loss I went to two doctors.  I wanted a second opinion and I really liked the second guy.  He sat me down after the examination and said "You do not have to do anything, but talking to you like a brother, if you can afford it get an MRI just to be safe." I did and they found the tumor. My advice is the same to you, If you can get an MRI.  Good luck on your journey.

Hi there - I Was wondering how you are doing now. Are you still getting the ear pain? I still get it it if I lie on that side - so been over 5 years lying on other side. It seems very  few people have this symptom and no one I have consulted thinks its the AN even though this was my only presenting symptom.  Lately I have been pain free am combining l theanine with magnesium, small amt taurine and some melatonin and sleeping better which helps.
