" Lower-dose gadolinium now being used for MRIs with contrast"
"High-quality image with half the dose"
thanks for the research link Michele-- lower dose -- sounds like progress to me :)

For sure Stella. I continue to use non contrast (will save contrast for emergency). My specialist fully agrees. I just feel its inflammatory and not needed for tracking...

For five years I had no contrast for my MRIs due to Gd being suspect for some kidney damage, after it was first used to diagnose my AN. It has been about 2 1/2 years since I had GK, and this week will be my third MRI. Over this latter timeframe, my concerns about Gd have been somewhat lessened as I have been given 1/2 doses of Gd, which have helped me, a non medical specialist, appreciate the dimensions of the tumor, which hasn't stabilized yet. As an aside, had I been able to discern the true shape and location of my tumor with contrast during the five years when I didn't use it, I just may have had treatment sooner.

Mine was discovered without contrast- but I had to have contrast for CK and the first MRI after. At 4 years its showed shrinking. I think for me given how hypersensitive I am to everything (bad reaction to Pfizer) I will only use if something is flagged. So far so good...for one thing I think it affects the thyroid and I suspect neuroinflammation. I feel the type of contrast is also important.
