Title: Nosebleed Post CK
Post by: CattAN on September 13, 2015, 04:36:42 pm
I am 10 days out post CK, and suddenly this afternoon I had a nosebleed.  It was very scary, I called the Paramedics.  They took my vitals and dismissed it as it could be caused by the heat.  I called the Neurosurgeon on call and he thinks it is unrelated to the CK.  I hope it is unrelated, because the first thing that came to my mind is that a blood vessel in  my brain ruptured.  Anyone had similar experience?

I'm 2 years post GK and in all my research and time on this forum I've never come across nose bleeds happening post CK or GK.  Not to say it can't happen, I'm certainly not an authority on post treatment symptoms, but just thought it might help to let you know that I for one have never heard of that happening.

Thanks Cathie.  It does help to confirm what Paramedics told me. I also called the Stanford Resident on call. They both said what you mentioned, but I just could not help thinking it is related.  The first thing that came to mind is that a blood vessel ruptured. I never experience nosebleeds, hence the alarm.  Thanks again.

CattAN,
When you are/were a patient at Stanford, you can message Dr Chang and Dr Gibbs at any time via MyHealth at Stanford to ask them about anything regarding your treatment and postop experiences. You actually go through their Nurse Practitioners but the questions will get to Dr Chang and Dr Gibbs. You should have been given papers to tell you how to log on.

John1455,

This happened on the weekend, so I called the Neurosurgery Resident on call.  That is what my instructions were.  The NP called me on Monday afternoon to confirm that this is not CK related.  But I needed to know this information when it happened on Sunday afternoon.
