I was finally able to finish the story of the day of my surgery. It's something I felt I needed to write for myself (I'm an avid journal-er), but wanted to post it in case it's at all useful for others. It is very long - I won't be offended if you don't take the time to read it. I promise.
I won't post it here, because it's way too long. But I do have it posted in two places:
1) On my CarePages (http://www.carepages.com/); go to KatieANSurgery
2) On my blog (http://bunnums.blogspot.com/)

Katie,
Well done. My experience was very similar. The only major difference was that they put me under in a prep room next to the OR, before wheeling me in.
When I saw the ENT surgeon a month before surgery, I asked what would happen in surgery. Her reply, "We do all sorts of horrible things to you once you're under." It was her way of breaking some of the tension. It made me laugh.
Regards,
Rob

LOL!
They did all sorts of horrible things to me, too, once I was out! (Besides the surgery!) More IV lines, breathing tube, head shaving, head frame (which I didn't know was going to happen)...
