Title: Has Anyone had Pneumovax or 23-Valent Pneumococcal Vaccination?

My surgeon brought this vaccination up in one of our meetings leading up to surgery. I am a month post-op and have no issues but have three small children who are in school/pre-school that can be "germy."

I am curious if anyone had this vaccine and if they had any side effects. Did you have the vaccine prior to surgery or how long after your surgery?

I conferred with my cousin who is a doctor and my primary care physician and they both recommended having the vaccination. I went Monday and got the shot.

The lady that administered the shot said I was just the third person under 65 she had given the vaccination to in 15 years.

I guess it is uncommon. All three doctors recommended the 13 vaccination too in 4-8 weeks.
