Hello everyone,
My insurance will more than likely refuse to pay for any procedures in private hospitals. Can anyone give me an idea what is the medical cost for procedures in these 2 places if I decide to spend my savings and kid's college fund on my 2cm AN.

Without insurance--HEI's bill would have been about $100,000. Since they are in network for me, my bill was about $35,000. Of course, BCBS picked up everything after out-of-pocket and deductibile--I shelled out about $5000. HEI will work with your insurance company to try to cover you. Have you been in touch with a surgical counselor from HEI yet? Mine was Chris and she handled all the paperwork. I believe that some people with HMO's have been treated there.

The total cost of my surgery was $98,000.00 my insurance pickup up all the expenses except my $3,500.00 out of pocket fee. House Ear Clinic will work with you like everyone has already stated. Hope things work out for you. Ann

This surgery/radiosurgery is so specialized it can't be done at most hospitals. I am hoping that your insurance co. will see that (with help from a dr. or two if needed) and approve the treatment wherever you choose to go. I would get on the phone to them right away. Maybe you don't have anything to worry about. I made a call to my ins.co. to make sure everything was ok and the woman I talked to acted like I was crazy for calling??

Another consideration for choosing House is the duration of the surgery and the length of hospital stay - much less there than at other non-specialized hospitals. Average surgery time is about 4-1/2 hours and hospital stay of maybe 3 days. This substantially reduces the overall cost of the procedure to both you and the insurance company. My insurance worked with them and kept the costs to a minimum. Since it was out of network for me, my cost was $6000.00 but well worth it.
