Title: Post-op long term effects

 I had my AN surgery 5 years ago, at age 42. It was a large tumor (plum-size), surgery was roughly 20 hours, and I had MANY complications. Through time and therapy, I've come back strong. Not 100%, but very good. I have however, noticed changes in my mood, memory, emotional state, and my libido. Since the surgery, I generally (but not always) feel disassociated from those around me. I've read on the forum of many who've gone through memory issues and depression. I'm wondering if there are others who've dealt with similar issues that I'm currently dealing with.

You're 47 now.

Could just be a mid-life crisis.

Buy a Porsche and date a woman half your age.

Should fix you right up.

 Could you make it a GT500? And...don't know if my wife would be up for another woman. Guess it wouldn't hurt to ask, or would it????

Surgery on the heart is well understood to cause the type of problems you describe, there is little explanation other than its our inner "me" that has been messed with. It stands to reason that surgery on the other "me" the brain, could cause the same issues? I would certainly talk to a primary care provider and consider meds and counseling. You are worth the further investigation into this!
