Title: facial nerve question

Hello,
I am about a year post op now and I finally was able to get information from my doctor about what they did to my facial nerve. I was told that it was spayed or sliced? But not severed. Basically they had to cut into it a bit to get the tumor out. That being said does anyone have experience with this and is there any hope for my face to move without surgery? My doctor says he thinks surgery is the only way.  :(
