Well I probably set the record for waiting too long but I finally scheduled translab surgery Nov 20 at House with Slattery and Schwartz. I still get nervous but not nearly as bad as the last 12 months of torturing myself have been. It does feel better to know it will be done soon. Thanks to all for your support and encouragement. This has been a real personal crisis for me, and I am glad to get to the next phase.

I know you are in great hands, being a House Alumni myself. Let us know when you can how it goes! Good luck!

I have followed many of your posts, your questions, your curiosities, and your insights. You have been diligent, thoughtful, and careful about your decision. Believe in yourself, the care you have taken to arrive at this place, and the confidence of your amazing surgeons.
I wish you nothing but the best, speedy recovery, and knowing you're in good hands....at House, here for your support, and every place in-between.
Peace and strength,
Patrick

Only 9 short days to go before a new journey begins.
Lean on us here as much as you want to and not only can we laugh together but we can also console together if need be.
Hugs and best wishes for the time to fly past!

You made a great decision on where to go. Are you staying at Seton Hall? If so in the eating area there is a book where people have left signed in. Take a few moments to read and make an entry yourself. You will find mine from March of last year. Prayers for you. Please keep us posted.

Thanks Cindy. Watching TV does seem to help pass the time. I will nap and walk at Seton. Thanks so much for your encouragement.

Mindy - I will be sure to read yours. And I will post my own. Will be so good to have this behind me.

You will be a postie in no time. I remember when they woke me up from surgery telling me it was all over, I was thinking to myself....wow its over? Already? I felt as if I was asleep for only 15 minutes. Then I felt thankful & then I passed back out. LOL
-
Thanks Mindy. That sounds good to me!!

You only have a few days left to wait!! We'll all be sending good thoughts and prayers your way on the 20th. Thank you so much for taking the time to share information with me through our PMs. I still haven't been able to take the step of making the appointment but I'm working on it!!

Very good outcome. Mild smile issue they say will go away. 99.5% tumor removal. Biggest issue is balance, but today was a big improvement. Schwartz called it a slam dunk. Thank God and all from this site that I am now on the other side.
-
Great news! Now put your i-pad down and get some rest!
-
Great outcome ! Very happy.....
You said "Balance is issue"- can you please elaborate ....(whenever safe to do)
Your response in 3-4 days is very encouraging and appreciated.
-
Hey, Rich! So glad to hear from you and that all is ok! If they say your smile will be fine, trust them on that...it will! The balance/wonkyhead may take a some time, but it does get better. Walk as much as you can - followed by a nice nap each time :D
Enjoy the rest of your stay out there :)

Been thinking about you.
Have a RELAXING Thanksgiving.
Finally made the move and scheduled my surgery at HEI mid January.

They cut balance nerve so the other side takes time to compensate. First few days post op I was dizzy. Then day 3 or 4 I could walk a little, but not much. Now 10 days out I am walking very well. Each person is a little different.

Great choice Clere. From my perspective, and also people I met at Seton - hard to go wrong coming out here.
