Title: A Suceesful Surgery at House
Post by: jetatp on June 28, 2013, 08:32:08 am
Today is my second day of post Middle Fossa Surgery at House,
to remove a 1cm AN from my left inferior vestibular nerve. I really
owe my sucessful surgery to Dr. Lekovic and Dr Friedman. Dr Lekovic
saved my hearing and facial nerve, I came out of surgery with a House
Brackmann score of 1 for my facial nerve and the hearing nerve in tact.I
know on this forum I hear a lot about Dr Swartz but in my book I would
say Dr Lekovic is as good of a Neurosurgeon as Dr Swartz maybe better.
He closed me up with dissolvable stitches, I had no bandage on my Incission
and the nurses in the ICU were suprised about that. He also helped
the nurses wheel me into ICU and was at the foot of my bed when I
woke up. Told me how the Surgery went and everything came out fine.
I am really happy with the outcome of my surgery and very happy about
the decision I made coming to House to have my AN removed. I had an MRI yesterday
and all of the tumor is removed. Again I am great full to Dr Lekovic
and Friedman for another successful surgery from HEI

Congratulations on a successful outcome.

Says a lot in favor of killing these invaders when they are small.

Congratulations on your very successful AN surgery and thanks for both the update and the praise for your doctor and HEI.  There is a reason they are highly recommended by so many AN patients.  However, this is a big country with many doctors that are as capable as the House doctors.  I had one like that, 3,000 miles away from HEI.  However, finding such doctors can be sometimes be daunting.  That is why I kept HEI as my 'plan B' if I couldn't find a local doctor I felt confident would give me a successful surgical outcome.  I was fortunate to find him in my back yard, as it were.  Still, your experience adds to the fine reputation HEI and it's medical enjoy in the AN community.  Thanks for sharing it here.

Congratulations on the news!  Fantastic!

I also give a shout out to Dr. Lekovic.  While I didn't have surgery with him, when I was first diagnosed and sent my MRI to House for review, he called me and was exceptionally generous with his time---giving me 90 minutes on the phone to answer all of my questions one by one.  He's by far the sole individual who explained the most to me about ANs, and I remain grateful to him.

I'm glad your surgery was such a success!  Applause.

Glad to hear everything went so well!  I am also a fan of Dr. Lekovic!  I owe him and Dr. Luxford my life!  I had translab in March and except for the unavoidable hearing loss, my life is back to normal.  They are awesome!

Congratulations on your successful surgery. It's amazing that you could post only 2 days out. I sent my newest M.R.I. and hearing test to Dr. Freidman last Thurs. and awaiting a phone call back. I plan on following your footsteps and get surgery. I just hope and pray it goes as well as yours did. I remember you writing that your surgery was the 25th. I thought about you often that day. Please continue to post about your experiences and much luck to you with your ongoing recovery.

What a good story!
Maybe doctors will start taking them out earlier and using this method instead of translab. It's getting them diagnosed in the first place that is hard over here as it seems to be the last option and by then they're at an optimal size.
The W&W people may move more quickly the being post-ops  ;D
