Hello,
I was wondering, is hearing loss possible after 9 weeks of surgery? I did not loose any hearing right after surgery but just now I heard a ringing in my ear and that side is muffled with a bit of fullness.
Has this happened to anyone?
Thanks!
Sharon

Is it possible? Yes. Did it happen to me? No, my nerve was cut and am SSD.
Delayed complications from surgery can and, for some people, do happen. For instance, were you on a course of steroids following the surgery? Steroids prevent swelling and inflammation of the nerves, and once Decadron, for example, is discontinued the nerves can then swell and inflame to some degree causing symptoms. The symptoms from delayed complications are often temporary, but are not necessarily so. It would be a good question for your physician's office. Good luck.

I would recommend calling your ENT or audiologist ASAP. They could evaluate and start you on steroids if appropriate. If you get the steroids started within about a week of the hearing loss, it might be able to be reversed. Definitely worth checking.
Good luck!
