Title: 10 days post Translab
Post by: timreeves on April 25, 2013, 10:47:07 AM
I had a 9 1/2 hour translab on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 to remove a 2.7 cm AN that had been previously treated with Proton Beam Therapy in 2010.   The tumor had a large cyst on it which  doubled in size from October, 2012 until Feb. 2013. The surgery was performed at Vanderbilt Hospital by Dr. George Wanna and Dr. Kyle Weaver.  I can't say enough about the care that I received from these Drs. and from their entire staff.  The surgery was on Tuesday and I was at home in Atlanta by Friday afternoon.

My balance is not perfect but I was able to walk 1.2 miles on a fairly flat surface at the park today.  I started PT/OT yesterday and will return again tomorrow to help with some left side weakness as well as to help my vestibular system adjust.

I am confident that I will be better than I was prior to surgery in a short time!

For 10 days post op it sounds like you are doing well.  Hope that continues!

Glad you had great docs; that helps immensely on the AN Journey.

Best,

Jan

Hey, Tim!  This is Cindy in Atlanta...you & I haven't "met" yet, but I've been talking to Jody since before your surgery via email...so glad to see your good report!  Keep it up!

Hope to meet you guys at one of our support group meetings sometime...our next one is Jun 22...

Take care,
