Title: Surgery success
Post by: Peter325 on October 31, 2012, 03:00:19 pm
Just thought I'd post a note of thanks to everyone who provided me with information prior to surgery. I had retrosigmoid on my AN on Oct. 9th and I'm closing in on 4 weeks post op and things couldn't be better. I am SSD with some minor balance issues but other than that I've actually seen improvements. Prior to surgery I had trouble swallowing and the right side of my lower face and tongue were numb. Now everything has feeling and I can taste again - I haven't had any headaches and there is no noticeable facial weakness. My eye closes and tears fine. I definitely have to give credit to Dr. Akagami and Dr. Westerberg and the Vancouver General Hospital neurosurgery / ICU team, chalk up another success story for them. If they are your doctors you couldn't be in better hands.

Cheers!

Peter,

Thanks for posting the good news!  We all need to hear or read some good news to help us keep things in perspective.  It's always good to know that a fellow tumor friend is doing well.  Jill Marie :D

Thanks for all the well wishes, I continue to improve, vestibular rehab has been a real benefit. I find the more I induce wonky head the faster it abates. It was pretty heavy right after surgery and it has been fading quickly with each passing week. I go to vestibular rehab once a week and they work me over fairly well, my head is scrambled when it's over but so far I've woken up the morning after feeling much better than the week before.

Good luck Glenda, hope it all goes well.  :)

Happy to hear your success. It encourages me for my surgery Tuesday Nov 13. Rather nervous about side effects and this is encouraging

Peter!  You make me want to run out the door and walk around the block-twice!  So glad your recovery is going well.  It inspires the rest of us who are working at recovery too.  Lily, we will do it!
