Some of you may remember previous posts regarding Kathi Goertzen, who anchored KOMO news desk in Seattle Washington. She's been fighting a benign brain tumor - NOT an Acoustic Neuroma - for years. Sadly, she passed away today. I thought those that might remember this story would be interested in reading about her.

thanks for updating us.
So sad that Kathi lost her battle - at the young age of 54; she was such an inspiration.
Makes me realize how lucky I am that I "just" had an AN. I am truly blessed.

So sorry to hear of this... just a reminder that life is a fleeting moment and do what we can to be the best we can be and make the very most of it.........
So sad.

Thank you for sharing. I too am from Washington and have followed her for many years. Very courageous and wonderful spirit. She died of pneumonia. I think the chemo drug she was taking to help her tumors may have hindered her ability to fight the pneumonia. I'm not positive.
Thank you for sharing.

I heard she had an infection in her brain. But pneumonia is likely. My mother had cancer, but she died oh pneumonia also. So, whatever the actual cause, I think she just finally was overwhelmed by it all.
