Hi Karen  - I'm at 6 years & no movement, no synkenesis - but my facial nerve was cut & I didn't have the 12/7 done. Sounds like good news to me with the eye closing, even if it's only when you eat. Maybe a trip to your neurologist to find out what's happening, & maybe find a facial therapist to work with you. Best wishes, always good thoughts, Nancy.

Hi Karen,
I had translab 9 mos ago and had 12/7 4 days later.. my eye also closes when I eat but also have eyelid weight in it.. I am so soon after surgery that I just take each movement as positive direction...... Dr told me I would be at least 12 mo out before most movement returns.. I have MRI scheduled in Sept. so am just waiting till then to talk to him.. It is frustrating but as I say, I see more facial movement also, so am just "dealing" right now.. I think it has to do with the tongue placement in your mouth due to the 12/7 graft, and maybe with some time I can "learn" not to close eye while chewing,, but that will be after eye weight is out I am sure... probably not much help,, but at least you know there are more of "us" out there experiencing it.... best of luck and let us know if/when you find out anything else to do.. I have not started with facial retraining as I am so "new" to this paralysis..... Jane
