So I JUST got my teeth cleaned for the first time since surgery and I have to say that my taste buds are HYPER sensitive to MINT! Has anyone else had this? It was close to nauseating yesterday after it was done. I have the fluoride "varnish" treatment done but it's a new dentist so I'm not sure if it was a different brand or what. Going to call my old dentist and ask what they used and then the new to find out if it's different or just me......gag - I can still "sense" mint in my mouth today and I brushed my teeth really well last night!!!!

Although I haven't had this experience, it can happen when the trigeminal nerves are disturbed. My taste became more sensitive post-surgery but just enough to heighten my sense of taste, not mess it up. I consider it a blessing, but I also realize this is not common. If a hyper-sensitivity to mint is your sole problem, it can be avoided for the most part. However, you may find that you're sensitive to other sharp tastes, as well. That could be temporary but if not, it can still be 'worked around'.

Hi!
I am having surgery July 30 for a 2.6 cm AN. Two neurosurgeons have said my tumor is too large for retrosigmoid. Was your hearing restored?

It's a new one to me.
