Title: HEI Packet - Supplements and Meds to Stop

I got my pre-surgery packet from House yesterday. It is missing info on stopping meds and supplements prior to surgery, probably because Rita and I discussed it by phone, but I still want to see it. My surgery is two weeks from today, so I really need to know ASAP. Does anyone have a copy they can scan and email to me?

Thanks, Karen!

Summer in Texas is HOT! Not my favorite season, but I am making the best of it. I have to take my walks early in the morning or late in the evening. It will be starting to cool off just about the time I'm fully on my feet again, and I am certainly looking forward to that.

Are you somewhere cooler?

I will be thinking of both you and Lisa as the time approaches.

Sounds lovely. What are your winters like?

To make this on topic, I talked with both Rita, the surgical counselor (who talked with Dr. Stefan), and Dr. Slattery about the meds and supplements I'm taking. lrobie was kind enough to email me the supplement/med sheet from the packet, but I still had some questions. I was told to drop the fish oil. I'm glad I asked, since I am taking a fairly high dose and it can present a bleeding hazard. I had no idea.

I would ask about the iron, Karen. I was told I could take a basic multivitamin, but I'm not sure that iron is considered basic. My multivitamins specify 6 pills per day, so I don't think those are basic, either. I quit taking them for now.

I can't take iron. It sets off an inflammatory reaction for me. It makes all of my joints feel like they are on fire and I have to take to my bed when that happens. Is Rita your surgical counselor?
