Ellen,
I just looked at your picture. That's insane! I don't really even remember what mine looked like. I wish I had a copy of my MRI. (Maybe I should look into that...)
Thanks for sharing.

Ellen, are you opting for cyberknife, radiation or surgery?

Holy crap. I must get a copy of mine too. I don't remember mine looking that big and it was 2.5 cm.
Now that it is gone I forgot what it looked like.
Thanks Ellen. Best of luck however you get rid of it! Kathy

Hi Ellen,
Wow, that sucker needs to get out of there, one way or another! Have you done your research? Are you checking out both radiation and surgery? House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles will give you a free phone consulation if you send them your films. If I can be of any help, to answer any questions, please let me know. Please make sure you are comfortable with your doctors. You are putting your life in their hands. Go with your gut feeling! Ann

Thanks for the responses. :)
I'm definitelty going for radiation. The choice right now is between Gamma Knife and Novalis.

Ellen,
We all cring looking at AN MRIs. But they are facinating. It looks like your AN is extracanalicular (outside the auditory canal) in the CVA angle. I'd be curious to hear what the doctor says about the dark spot and dark rays in the center of the AN, when viewed from the front. Most of the AN MRIs I've seen didn't have much internal structure.
Regards,
Rob

Ellen,
Yours is prettier than mine! ;D I carry a picture from my MRI with me to show people when I tell them about it. Weird, huh? Mine looks like a wad of gum someone stepped on :P. Somehow, by looking at my picture it gives me power to know I can beat the ugly thing. I hope your picture does the same for you.

brucifer: yes, I have very minimal hearing loss!
Sefra22: You are too funny!

HeadCase2,
Yup, just a tail in the IAC. I have very minimal hearing loss. According to the doctors, some degree of necrosis (dark spots) is normal, even pre-treatment.
Thanks,
Ellen

Mine is also in the same area, and on the left side. In fact, it looks remarkably similar to yours, but smaller--about 1.5 cm. We (as in the whole group) ought to do an informal poll of things we have in common and maybe help the medical community figure out what's causing these. E.g., concussions, head injuries, heavy cell phone use, artificial sweetners, who knows? I'm just making these up. Anyway, best of luck to you. S.

Yikes! It reminds me of my favorite Simpson's when the docs find the crayon that Homer had shoved up his nose when he was seven. They removed it and he became a genius, but nobody liked him any more, so he shoved it back in! Wish yours was that simple to squeeze out!!!
