Title: Klonopin
Post by: nannettesea on July 26, 2006, 12:08:13 pm
Hi,
Jean was helpful in telling me about weaning off Klonopin.

Is anyone else here taking it for dizziness?  And what doseage?

My doc said if I have MdD (Mal de Debarquement) in addition to total AN side vestibular loss, I could be on it for years.

I take .5 mg twice/day, he doesn't want me on any more than that, and second doseage isn't effective as the first.

Thanks,
Nan

i take that med for anxiety, the same dosage as you.

i find that as time goes on your body becomes immuned to it and it becomes less affective.

Thanks, Tatianne-
I find the first dose in the am helps most, but by the end of the day the 2nd dose isn't as effective. If I'm tired, it's even less so.

A factor in dizzyness is fatigue - if one of there nerves is not working properly.
(The brain has to work rather more to compensate - you are largely unaware
it is going on - until you tire with the extra effort)
You may find a simple rest with eyes shut for just 5-10mins will reset the mechanism.
I often feel "tired" - when I know in muscle/endurance terms I am nowhere near
the last lap.
- the 5 min cat-nap is all I really need - it feels like 4-5 hrs sleep. The trick is not to
actually fall asleep - as it will goof up your body clock later in the day
If this works for you - stay with meds until doc advises to change.
Best regards
Tony
