Title: Ponto Pro abutment vs BAHA abutment
Post by: james e on November 30, 2011, 10:13:56 am
I got my BAHA BP100 abutment implanted in March 2010. I have had some problems with my BAHA and it was replaced by Cochlear, and there have not been any other problems. However, just in case the problems start again, I am interested in the Ponto Pro, but I am aware of the difference in the two abutments. I do not know if I have the old BAHA or the new BAHA abutment. How can you tell the difference. Any photos?

James,

I don't believe the 'new' cochlear abutment was launched until the fall of 2010.  I had the Oticon implant in October of 2010 and as I recall from when I was deciding between the two devices that Cochlear was in the beginning of their launch.  I am sure your doctor's office could validate for you when they made the switch as they keep implant records.  Good luck!

Mine was implanted (Cochlear) in June of 2010 and it was the new abutment.

mine was inplanted in sept/09....and its the old abutment...so anyone with abutments between sept/09 and march /10 could narrow it down
