Hi- I am due for my first colonoscopy and wondering if enough time has passed since my AN 10 hour surgery on 5/12/11.
Thanks for any info!

Hi, I am not a doctor, but a month after my 32 hour surgery, I was under a general anesthesia for a laryngoplasty, and that was repeated twice more at about three month intervals.
Hope this helps,

I'm not a doctor either but I doubt there is any risk here. However, for peace of mind, I would pose this question to the proctologist that is going to perform the procedure.

It should be no problem at all. For the colonscopy, you will not be receiving the same type of anesthesia. It will will conscious sedation where you are a bit awake but won't remember it after or the Propofol which is short acting and once not being given, will be awake very soon. I had one of my AN surgeries and then the CSF leak surgery 2 weeks later and wasn't any worse for having that so soon. Cheryl R

Obviously a question for your doctor.
I don't think it will be a problem though. I had a colonscopy about a month before my AN surgery and neither my gastrologist or my neurotologist had an issue doing the procedures so close together.

I am a nurse, you are not asleep long with a colonoscopy. It shouldn't be any problem
