Hello,
I had my retrosigmoid surgery with Dr. Sisiti from Columbia University on July 15th and thought I would post an update here. My 2.5cm AN was removed and Dr. Sisti wsa able to preserve a working hearing nerve although I still can't hear anything at this point. My ear rings but it is getting better. The more noise the more it seems to ring. I started driving 2 weeks after surgery and I now feel very comfortable driving. Last night I ran a full mile straight just 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery and I was very happy about that. I still pray that the hearing might come back, but at this point I won't be shocked if it doesn't. And even if it doesn't come back, I'm sure somehow it's still better to have a working hearing nerve even if the hearing doesn't come back...

Hi, Phillies,
Glad that your surgery went well -- and it certainly sounds as though you're making a great recovery! Hope that your hearing will return, but as you say, regardless of how that turns out having a viable hearing nerve could definitely give you some options for the future.

Thanks for the encouraging update and congratulations on your impressive recovery process. I, too, hope your hearing will return and look forward to reading further updates as you continue to heal.

Just did a nice 1.5 mile run in the heat! I can't believe I had brain surgery less than 3 weeks ago! :)

I had my surgey 3 weeks ago today and last night I ran 2+ miles. Very excited about that. My ear ringing is getting less but still no hearing in my AN ear.
