Hi All,
It's been a long while since I came to the forum. Had my 2nd AN surgery Jan 2010. Tinnitus is horrific as is vertigo. But I was wondering if anyone has stumbled across anything new for help with Tinnitus
thx

Hi Patti!!
So sorry you are having such a hard time. It just ain't fair... I have no advice, sorry to say. Can you contact any kind of a big hospital.? OHSU in Portland has a tinnitus department....maybe they can help..
Bless you dear,
Sue in Vancouver, USA

G'day Patti
I started using Ativan for the dizziness and it seems to also quiet the cacophony in my head as well.
Not all day mind you but just for a little while and enough for me to forget about it.
Everyone is hoping for a cure for this menace and sometimes I've heard people say that it's worse than having the AN. I'm absolutely happy that I haven't got the AN but living with so much noise is a bit hectic to say the least but I wouldn't swap it for the 4cm egg they took out of my head.
Good luck with your search and I'll keep my ear open as well.
Hugs,
Suu xxoo

Oh My! You poor baby. i hate to hear of anyone doing this once let alone two times. My heart is with you.
On the other hand, I had a bout of no Tinnitus yesterday. I've had it for two years and suddenly none. It's back now and maybe because I am having dinner and a glass of wine. With no wine, it went away. Make your choices.

I've tried no wine, no caffine, no ibupripin. Have triend without all of them and also without one at a time. High stress, los stress, tired, not tired, it just doesn't seem to matter. It is ALWAYS there SCREAMING at me 24/7. So I say, have the wine, heck, have some tequilla

Patti,
I am in the same boat. Diagnosed 1/3/2011 and am watch and wait but the screaming as you described it is the worst part. Most times cant even concentrate due to the noise. Keeps me on edge and very impatient. Sometimes I have to just be alone for a while. This may sound gross but I told my wife I felt like jamming a scewdriver in my ear and popping this thing out, as if that would help. That is how high my frustration level gets. I am ready to try an antidepressant just to take the edge off but do not know how that will make me feel. I have sat alone with an ipod stuck in my ear playing 60's rock and that lessened it. This to may sound crazy but the only relief I get is riding my motorcycle. With a half helmet on the wind blows by my ear and cancels out most of the screams. That along with the engine noise gives me the only true peace I have felt in over 7 mos.
If you find anything that works let me know.

I was just at the Symposium and sat at the table with Dr. Friedman because the topic was on tinnitus. He's a really nice doctor, but there is never really anything new for Tinnitus. I'm just glad I had the sounds of the ocean and at fleeting times some high squealing noises. I was upset when I was in the hospital after my AN surgery and found the tinnitus to be louder than ever in the weeks after the surgery. Wish I never did the surgery. Wishful thinking. Am having a glass of wine now. Here's to all of you.
