This lovely ship is here in Portland/Vancouver for the next few days. She was used in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. She's a beauty!!
Are you aware of Talk Like A Pirate Day? That was started by a couple of guys in Oregon, I do believe. :D

Hey guys,  THAT BE MY SHIP!!!!!!!! (my taxes helped to build it!) The Lady Washington was built and represents Grays Harbor County, Washington State.  I live about 10 miles from where she is was built and is moored when not at sea.  Sad thing is she's hardly ever here for us to enjoy too.  Sue and Kathleen, I'm glad you had the opportunity to see her.  Were you able to take a tour?
Raydean
Ps Does that make me a wrench too? <g>  Can Chet be a pirate?  he has his own patch!!!
-
O' COURSE ye be a Wench, dear Raydean! An' Chet be a seafarin' swashbuckler bloke. specially since he gots his own eyepatch 'n all!
We needs ta pirate this here Lady Washington--she be almost as bee-oo-tee-fulllll as our own Good Ship Princess Batty Wench!
When Laz voyages up ter the left coast is when we should do it!

I've a question for the East Coasters. I met a lady today who moved from the East Coast to the West Coast. I asked her about the differences between the two coasts and if it was a difficult adjustment. One thing she said took me by surprise. Grocery shopping here is so different from back there. Now I have always thought groceries, were groceries. Nope, it came as a big surprise to her that us west coasties don't dress up to go to the supermarket. Back East she said, you dress up even if you're just going to the store. We dress far more casual here. (But at least we're comfortable)
So you East Coasters Do you really dress up to go grocery shopping or do you where whatever

I haven't taken the tour. Maybe I should do that tomorrow!!  And you, know, Capt Deb, I just KNEW you would say every day is Talk Like A Pirate Day!! I knew it, I knew it!! LOL ;D
-
Raydean - My cousin moved from the west coast to the east coast and I remember her telling me that very same thing. I can't imagine getting dressed up to buy groceries. I like my jeans and tennis shoes or shorts and flip flops when I shop. I am also on the "best" coast, just a little further down from all of you.

Well, now that I've turned the entire forum population into PIRATES, my next goal is to turn them into PARROTHEADS! Check out the Today show--about a zillion of us out there--our motto is "Party with a Purpose" We raise money for charities and the environment while drinking Margaritas, (some of us)dressing up funny and idolizing Jimmy Buffet. After my BIG HEADACHE CURE (see the hemicrania continus thread) I intend to be the founder of the Boone group. My winter home, Sarasota, has a great chapter. For more info use Google--Parrotheads are a virtual Movement Great for Boomers who care about social issues, but still like to party!

We were in Key West for part of a day (cruise ship) and had lunch at Margaritaville. It was fun, but I didn't have a margarita. I should have tho.
