Title: Sharp shooting pain behind ear
Post by: mk on September 30, 2010, 06:26:04 pm
Has anyone experienced this?  Yesterday I had sharp shooting pains behind the ear, almost at the base of the skull. They only lasted for a moment, but were quite intense. I have experienced this occasionally post-GK, but never with such frequency. They lasted the entire day yesterday, but were pretty much gone today.
Any ideas what could be causing this? I don't think it can be trigeminal, as it originates towards the back of the head.

Any input is appreciated.

Sounds like nerve pain, but not sure other than that.  I do get this behind the hear, but its from my suboccipital surgery point where the occipital nerve was damaged.
You could check with your neuro or call a neurologist if it persists.

Marianna,

I too experience the same type of pain, and I have concluded it is nerve pain.  Since I have been on Lyrica that area has settled down a bit.
