Got to meet up with Jan on our recent Chicago vacation. As you all know, Jan is an outstanding AN forum member and great advocate for those that are SSD (like me) and considering a BAHA. My wife (the photographer) and I had a great lunch with Jan in a Chicago suburb at a nice quiet restaurant where I could hear very well. Thanks again Jan for taking the time to meet with us.

although I'll admit to being a great advocate for people who are SSD, I'm not sure that I'm an outstanding Forum member - I could give you a long list of people who would use other words ;) :D
It was a pleasure to meet you and Tracy - and I hope to meet you again some time in Texas.
In the meantime, give some thought to the ANA Symposium next June in Cincinnati.

Jan~
Look at your short new do!! I was wondering from your little picture if it was shorter but couldn't tell for sure!
Glad y'all were able to meet up! YES!! I hope we have a big ole party in TEXAS - I will be the HOSTESS!!

...with the mostest!! :D

Actually the "do" is old. I wore my hair short for years, then decided I needed a change and grew it out. BIG mistake - so now I'm back to being "Jan" again.
Patrick's picture is true to life, but I'm not photogenic at all, so just picture me 50 lbs lighter and 10 years younger ;) :D
-
And you can picture me being petite but w/more "charms" than I ever had in this lifetime. ;) ;) It's a deal!
-
Great picture! Glad you guys were able to get together - and hear each other! :D
If I'm ever in the same room as the two of you, remind me to bring a chair - I look short enough standing next to Jan! ::)

Lori,
It's like I tell my wife, you're not short, you're just somewhat vertically challenged ;D.
Actually there is a drawback to being fairly tall (combined with being SSD)....I find that at many business functions or at parties with groups of people standing, I'm hunching down to get at ear level for most people to be able to hear the conversation (as well as maneuvering around to hear out of my good ear). So, when we do get to meet, please wear your extra high heels...it will help my posture (and hearing) :D.
Patrick

Patrick,
People with balance issues can't wear high heels! :D Alright, I admit, I've never been good with high heels... sneakers are about as high as it gets! Trust me, it will be easier for me to bring a step-ladder with me! But if I start looking wobbly while I'm up there, stand back! :D

You know Lori, the first thought I had when I saw this picture was "Gee I look short next to Patrick. Kind of like how Lori looks when she's standing next to me".
I kid you not :)
But I love you just the way you are :-*
As someone who has always been tall - and has big feet to got with that tallness - I'd love to be shorter (and have smaller feet).

What a great picture.......................you both look wonderful! I can't wait for a Texas meet up, Jan! I have had the pleasure of meeting Patrick and Tracy, but it is never too often to see them again and have the opportunity to meet you, Jan. Oh and I am one of those vertically challenged people.............it'd good to know there are more of us out there!

Jan, you're not super tall! And no you don't want to be short as hard to reach stuff! I am not super short either. Plus now I don't dare stand on chairs to get stuff in cupboards. LOL!

you are right, I'm not super tall (only 5'10" for the record), but I wouldn't mind being 5'7" or 5'8"
I'll admit though, tall does have it's advantages.
Brenda -
it was a definite pleasure meeting Patrick and Tracy and it would be another pleasure to meet you. Hopefully one day very soon!

OK, Jan...so when you and I meet, I will be just like Lori standing next to you. I will be 10 inches shorter. As for shoes....it's children's shoes for me. Hard to find little shoes...not always an advantage. And clothes are made for tall people. I have to shorten EVERYTHING!

Dale,
You can stand right next to me! ;)
