Today I found out from the insurance company that my status has been changed and I have been approved for long term disability. I'm sure my sigh of relief was heard around the world, even over in South Africa drowning out the sound of the annoying horns! (Forza Italia ;D soccer nuts in my house!) What this means is all of my benifits will remain intact and uninterrupted monthly payments. Now I'm applying for the Canadian Pension Plan disability, if I am approved for CPP disability my sons who are in University will also receive $200 a mouth for as long as they continue their education and are under the age of 25. I will also receive a payment to top up the insurance company's payment.
Wish me luck, its a six month waiting period and than the claim is back dated ten months.

Yeah, Anne Marie! Good to hear such good news for you! Now if we could just have it so you are rid of pain would be even greater! I think I did hear a sigh and wondered where it was coming from. Northeast of me anyway!
Hugs to you! Cheryl R

wooo hooo gobble gobble (don't ask ...too long of an explanation would follow ) and continued good luck ...
the kids are odd moment sports nuts ... they don't cheer regularly for anyone except for the Tennessee / Alabama football game and then have one for each side ... then occasionally they get interested in some team in some sport and cheer for the season ...following year may be a different sport and is always a different team ... they have been watching some soccer but not sure they are cheering anyone on ...just watching so they have an excuse to yell ... :D

Anne Marie ~
I'm pleased to share your elation over finally being approved for long-term disability benefits. My wife went through a similar ordeal in the mid-90's (not AN related) and was eventually approved, so I can empathize with your relief and sense of vindication. Congratulations! :)

Great news Anne Marie, at least you don't have to worry about this any more. I hope that you will be successful in your application for CPP disability too.

Thank you everyone!!! :-* :-* I have a dear friend who has been on disability because she has lupus, her condition was really bad a few years ago, we almost lost her, well she has given me few words of advice. She said people are going to make snide remarks, do not take it to heart, shock them. Example, if someone says "oh it must be nice not to work and be able to stay at home!....my response....."Yeah it's great, I have fun every single day!" She said this will shock people into silence. I told her now not only will I be sarcastic, offending (according to a very bitter family member, in-law, need I say any more) but I'll be shocking!!
Got find humour in every situation life presents,
Anne Marie ;D

good luck with CPP...whatever your doc does, make sure they write unable to recover, unable to work...any other word like slow to recover will toss your case aside....what the docs write have to be permanent deficcents?(sp) in your daily activities....

I'm very pleased for you AM. It's nice to know you will be able to rely on some assistance to get by. I pray that I'll be able to go back to work, but many of us don't understand, or plan for the eventuality that we may not be able to go back.
I hope you can relax a little now.
enjoy.

Great news, Ann Marie! I remember how relieved I was when my disability came through. And I hate when people say "must be nice"--I just want to strangle them. I would much, much, much rather be working than going through what I am going through and I know that you would, too. Never, ever forget that you are not alone!
Hugs,

...Tell them to go have brain surgery and see what happens ;) (of course if the in law is like mine.....it would end up a piece of cake with no issues, ugh!)
