Title: Confused
Post by: Vtech on June 11, 2010, 02:32:44 pm
Went to the specilist today. He said from looking at my films he is not sure how they can say I have a neuroma. He is ordering MRI with contrast to rule it out. the first doctor did not order contrast with the first MRI. The specialist has 27 years experience and said that to him he believes it might just be a pocket of fluid. I hope he is right. But in any event I am really upset at my first doctor for jumping the gun and scaring me half to death.

Laurie ~

Although another MRI with contrast should help your doctor determine whether or not you have an acoustic neuroma, your experience demonstrates why we routinely advise newly-diagnosed AN patients to consider getting a second doctors opinion.  Like you, I hope you don't have an acoustic neuroma and the MRI should determine that, once and for all.  We're rooting for you!

You must have to contrast, if it is an AN it will light up...
Hang in there,

Well I hope this month goes fast so I can get the second MRI and have a conclusive answer. The waiting game will drive me crazy. Thank you everyone for your kind words.
