Okay, I'm going to see if my photobucket skills have kicked in! I posted the pics under my first thread, but wanted to start a new one so I can add pics, and hopefully a smile in time so people can see the progression.
Enjoy! (hopefully)

Remember that is mostly swelling from the surgery, but I can definitely feel the muscle in the cheek area.. It has made a dramatic difference. I can breathe out of my left nostril. woo hoo! And my speech is clearer. I can't wait to see how I feel when I can actually move that jaw!

Such a success Maureen already. You need to celebrate my friend!!

I will. ;D Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm ready to tackle the real world, stares and all.
I went to my acupuncture yesterday, had my daughter drive me, and they didn't even notice! So I'm probably more self conscious. Plus the swelling is very slowly going down. It's pooling into yellow color under my double chin. :o

has paid off! I am so very happy for you and pray for your continued healing and regaining your smile!!!

Thanks for the well wishes!
I will definitely keep this site for the progression pictures, in case anyone else ever has this complex procedure.
The swelling will take up to six weeks to go down, and then I should notice movement at about the 3 month mark, so keep your eye open for this site at the end of the summmer!
Fingers crossed....
My face (cheek) is all tingly, even 5 days post surgery, so that is a GOOD sign. I haven't felt that for 4 years.
Also just the fact that I can breathe out of my left nostril, after 4 years. What a treat! (The small joys of life). :)

Hi there Moe: oh my sweetheart, I know exactly how you feel, where you are in this phase.... I understand these pics are immediately post op - can't wait to see the August/September photos. Keep a peaceful heart my friend, swelling will go down with time.
You have the added benefit of movement where I don't with the T3 surgery....can't wait to see that.
As you saw on my 'Eye' issues, there's a new treatment on the horizon with eyelid control, can't wait for that !! (Electroactive Polymer Technology).
Always good thoughts my friend, Nancy
ps: even with all my surgeries, I still use Breathe Right strips every night to keep my paralyzed sinus open while I sleep... (along with the Nighteye bubble eye moisture patch I wear - what a sight I am at bedtime !!).
Always good thoughts, Nancy

OKAY,
3 + month update. I couldn't upload my pics to photobucket to post here, but will try some other way!
Sorry no pic, but Gracey my gracilis flap is moving around when I bite down, just about the three month mark like he said. Another 3 months of exercising my face by looking at myself in the mirror to "retrain" my muscles to move, etc.
Seeing crease line along the nose area, and improvement in movement weekly.
Will try and post pics. Swelling is still there, takes a LONG time.

I just recently had this surgery done last week. I was just wondering how your progress has come along so far. And if you have any recent pictures. I would be happy to give you my email if that's easier. I would love to see current pics of your progress.

Hi!
I would love to share pics. I'm a little slow and dumb with pics on the computer, but I'll send to your personal email. May try to post here....
This is not a common surgery, wondering where you had yours.
I also recently had a bilateral brow lift and canthoplasty (?) to lift the corner of my left eye so my face is looking better there.
PM me your personal email in case I can't post here :)

I had it done at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. I'm 11 days post op now. I am trying to figure out how to email you but don't see how to do it. My email is (joef: email removed, please use PM). Can you send me some pics and info there? Thanks so much!!!

Just sent you a photo from Dec. Actually the site has been "revamped" and if you want to leave a personal message, then you press the IM (instant message) button (Which USED to be a PM (or personal message) button.
The moderator may delete your email address from the post, in case you notice it is not there anymore, since they don't like the personal info on the forum.
Let's keep in touch, would love to hear how YOU progress from this surgery!
