Title: BAHA girl now!
Post by: Sue Vogel on May 05, 2010, 08:00:25 pm
It's official.  I'm a BAHA girl.  I had a good check-up today and am well healed.  I got my BAHA hooked up today, and it's working pretty well.  I think it will take some getting used to, but I am going to like it.  Sometimes, it feels like it's not making a difference.  But I can block my hearing and know that it's there.  I think I have already messed up the volume adjustment, but in time I will figure it out.  I can't hear the phone very well up against it.  I may have it set on the wrong program.  Thanks to everyone who offered support and advice.  I hope I can learn things that will also be of assistance to others.  I can't wait to try it out in the classroom tomorrow.

SUE

Congratulations on your BAHA Gotcha Day, Sue  ;D

Your device will take some time getting used to - I'm still learning about my BP100 and I've had it for a month now - but you'll get there.

Congratulations Sue on your BAHA!      Sounds like will do well for you and be a big help.           Gantz and Woodson told me I am on the edge of being a candidate for one but don't really feel want to go thru it.     I do have an appt soon for a consult at UIHC for getting rid of the eye pooch that I can see on the side where have had the facial neuroma.             Might even get to wear eye shadow again.  LOL!                                        Cheryl R

Sue ~

I'm always pleased to learn that another AN patient that struggled with being SSD has found a solution with a BAHA.  Congratulations!  :)

Sue, I tried out the Baha and I have been waiting to hear how you liked it!  Can't wait to you try it in a noisy classroom - let us know if it makes a difference!  Congrats on this big step!

Sue,
I've had my BAHA for a month now. Just had it fine tuned..Had to turn off the feedback manager...It gave way to much distortion in my classroom to the point I had to turn it off once...Now it like WOW in the classroom...I love it...For in the classroom I keep mine on setting 2 if the kids are being noisy...if its a quiet day, then on setting 1...but it all depends on how your audiologist set yours up....As statedon another post, when tested by my audiologist, without the BAHA, a voice had to be 6 db higher than the background noise..with BAHA on and set at #1, the voice only had to be 3 db higher than background noise and on #2 setting only .5 db higher...so I"m happy....I keep blocking my good ear to see if its working...

Congratulations on your BAHA day! I received mine about 3 1/2 weeks ago and love it. It's amazing when you are standing or sitting next to someone on your SSD side and can hear them! I haven't had any feedback problems except for those few times wheh I lean my head against the couch, but even then not too big a deal! Enjoy!!! ;D
