Sharon -

if you search on "thrush" you'll find several posts about it.

Sometimes it's a side-effect of antibiotics.  I don't know if that's applicable in your case, but it may be something to consider.

Sharon,
Very interesting, and don't know if this applies but.... for 2 years prior to my surgery on Feb 8 my tongue my a whitish yellow and I was treated for oral thrush many times to no avail.  Two days after my surgery I was allowed to go to the bathroom and guess what I discovered??? My tongue is just as pink as it's supposed to be.  It still doesn't feel back to normal yet, (feels like someone sprinkled it with pepper) but I do have hope now.  My facial nerve was very wrapped up in the tumor, so I still have facial paralysis that they tell me will go away with time.  Maybe yours is involved in somewhat the same way??  I wish you the very best in your journey back.  Char

I got oral thrush post surgery and was told it was from either antibiotics or steroids.

Got "another" prescription and it took care of it.

Hi Sharon:  I also have facial paralysis but never had oral thrush.  I did make sure I ate yogurt while on antibiotics.  Like Jan & Denise said,  it can be due to antibiotics/steroids, or if someone has a weakened immune system.  Since I produce less saliva due to the paralysis,  I use Biotene mouthwash & Listerine strips which helps decrease bacterial growth.  The Biotene gum is really good too. (Boppy had recommended the Biotine to me quite awhile ago & I've used it ever since).
Has your dr. recommended the swish & swallow medication used for thrush ?   I can't think of the name right now.
I'd call the doc,  not sure why it keeps coming back...  Hope this resolves for you,  Always good thoughts,  Nancy
