Okay, time for something totally off-topic ;D
Colts or Saints?
I say Colts! Love that Peyton Manning - and I haven't even liked a quarterback since Jim McMahon ;D

Jim McMahon! You've got to be kidding.
I think the sentiment of many fans are the Saints , but the Colts are the better team and will win by at least 10 points.
-
Yeah, I am gonna have to go with the Colts. Brees is a great QB but Manning has style! Although, a win for NO would be pretty cool for a team who is making their first appearance in the Super Bowl. I just hope it won't be a big blowout for one team or the other...if it is gonna be like last years (Go Cardinals!) then it'll be a good game regardless!s

I'm still cheering for the Dolphins. :'(
I'm not really a fan of either team, but I will eat some wings, drink some beer and watch the game anyway. May the best team win. May the commercials be funny and may the halftime show be worth watching.

We have our last 1st Grade girls basketball game at 4:30 - what were they thinking? Bet there is not many dads there...I'm the coach so I better show up!

are you surprised that I like Jimmy Mac? or are you surprised that I'm so OLD?? :D

Hey Jan,
I hear that "Jimmy" will be in one of the Super Bowl commercials for Boost Mobile. Hope your watching.
If your old, then I'm old. I remember Da Bears back when.

I say Colts win 34-24....don't really care who wins, just hoping for a good game and funny commercials.

Shoot, whatever happened to Joe Montana!!
It's all about the commercials for me.
Have fun,

I hear even the Census Bureau has bought advertising time.

I already caught Jimmy and Mike Singletary in the Boost commercial - it's been airing here for a few days now. Hard to believe that they are - and I am - that old :o
Joe Montana - great quarterback and a wonderful product of the University of Notre Dame; wish I could say the same about Joe Thiesmann (for some reason I never liked him). Perhaps it was that whole "Thiesmann as in Heismann thing" ::)
Really looking forward to the commercials - I usually like the ones from Budweiser. Wonder if the one from the Census Bureau will be humorous.

Hi,
Being from New England and a Patriots Fan, the colts are considered our rivals, so I have to go for the Saints.

Hurray for the Saints!!!!
I grew up in New Orleans and have been a Saints fan through thick and thin over their 44-year run.
My mother's 90th birthday was Saturday (February 6). She (and my father, until his death) were Saints season-ticket holders from the very beginning -- 1967 -- when the Saints played at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, prior to the building of the Superdome. She remained a loyal fan and continuous season-ticket holder -- and attended all the home games -- until the 2005 season. You'll recall that Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans on August 29 of that year and, after the levees breached, 85% of the city was submerged for several weeks. Her house was in one of the lakefront neighborhoods that had 8 feet of water. She evacuated safely and has since re-settled in her hometown of Nashville. The Saints offered a refund to all the 2005 season-ticket holders, and it was a sad day in our family when we wrote to redeem it. She has continued to be a loyal Saints fan (she's still not too keen on the Tennessee Titans) and her birthday wish was that the Saints would finally win the Super Bowl. We are glad her wish came true, and that it was also a really great game.
I'm hoping that Peyton Manning, as a New Orleans native, his dad, Archie, and brother Eli (go, GIANTS!), while disappointed at the Colts' loss, felt a good measure of happiness with the Saints' victory. Believe me, it means so very, very much to New Orleans as they continue to recover from the effects of the hurricane.

I was in New Orleans two weeks ago, when they beat Minnesota. We were staying in the French Quarter 3 blocks from Bourbon Street. The street party went on till the wee hours of the morning-- not much sleep to be had.
The Superbowl win should be good for the city of New Orleans. Keep the Gumbo flowing. Mardi Gras may start early this year!

Rob

When I saw the interception, I knew it was all over for the Colts :'(
But I am very happy for the Saints! ;D
They played a great game and deserved to win.
I didn't think the commercials were that great this year. Am I alone in this??

No, I didn't think any of them were all that clever or entertaining. The Google ad was sort of cute. The game was definitely better than the commercials this year, and I'll add that if the Colts had been playing any team other than the Saints or the NY Giants I would have been cheering them on. Peyton Manning is great! But this just had to be the Saints' year for the reasons I mentioned in my earlier post!

I wasn't too impressed with the commercials this year either. Usually the commercials are better than the game, but at least the game was good this year.
And I was glad to see The Who got a day pass from the old folks home to appear. :D

Hi All,
Glad that the Saints won and the only commerical that I liked was the one with Bette White playing football.

Just my opinion, but I thought the Who sounded terrible. Maybe it had something to do with the size of the stadium ?
I usually don't like the etrade commercials, but I thought the one with the girlfriend and the "other girl" was cute.
I also liked the Budweiser commercial with the Clydesdale and the steer. Very sweet!

we were sitting around sunday late afternoon waiting for our power to come on (we were supposed to have some people over). i missed the superbowl last year (was in a drug induced stupor a few days post op) and i didn't want to miss it this year. we braved the icy roads and went to a friend's. i like the colts, but wanted the saints for the reasons catherine stated. i didn't think the commercials were that great either.
i've always been a cowboy fan and next year the superbowl is in jerry's place. it would be a great for the cowboys to get to / win that one. and y'all aren't old - my favorite QB is staubach back in the landry days of the cowboys (when we HATED joe montana!!!) remember (or forget) the catch? that play got me crying (as in balling uncontrollably) at a playoff party in a room full of people i barely knew! any of you old enough to remember that?!

No! The commercials were not that great this year. The Who should be retired. And Jan and I should get a reprieve on our age if Keri's QB is Staubach
-
Ok, you can talk about the game and you can talk about the commercials plenty, sure. But how about the half-time train wreck? I LUV that band but they should just STOPPP!!! Loved those acrylic drums with the Who target logo on the cymbals. That was pretty cool. The harmonies were way off Pete's got serious hearing loss and Roger must too. They were out of sync all the way. :D
-
And can Roger really still have that much hair at his age?
Lori
-
WHO?? :D
I'm not a fan - confirmed Parrothead, here - but I was hopeful the Who didn't used to sound that bad; for those of you who are fans.
Glad to know this wasn't their "normal" skill set ::)

Oh when , oh WHEN are they gonna have Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band play the Superbowl????? My lifetime, I hope!!
Capt Deb

I'll vote for that, Captain! ;D

When is it scheduled to be in Miami? He'd have to play the halftime show at Landshark Stadium!
Lori

Duh, never mind. It just was in Miami, wasn't it? :-[
Rough day..... ::)
