don't you read the pirate thread in this section?? Shame on you. I know why Deb is blue, but I'll let you head over to that thread and read it for yourself.
Deb -
you look smashing! And, I wouldn't mind a bit if the blue didn't wear off before the symposium in Cincinnati ;) I think it would be very interesting to see the reactions you get :D
Thanks for the pictures. Do we get any of Dr. Love?

Me and the ever-adorable Dr. Love, who crafted the ears and the tails. A PhD in art ed and this is what he is doing in his retirement. I am so lucky!

I've not read the other thread but I do believe 'Avatar' might be responsible. Well done Dr. Love.

Wow, I'd heard it was cold down in your part of the country, but I had no idea it was THAT cold! Your lips look a little blue - better head indoors!
Always nice to be able to put all those years of higher education to good use! :D

Thanks, Captain.
I'm thinking you and Dr. Love must be about the coolest grandparents around ;D
-
Oh yeah! I was in the bathroom for a great deal of the party painting 28 little faces with Avatar War Paint. The funnest was Hayden, my grandscallywag who is 4. I had to sit him on the potty and squat down to paint him, he is so small. Most of the kids kept wiggling around trying to see themselves in the mirror and laughing. Hayden sat there with his face perfectly tilted, with the most serious look you can imagine on his cute little face, and didn't move a muscle the whole time. I think it was his first face-paint, and now I'm sure it won't be his last!
Capt Deb
BTW, the new pointy left ear won't hear for squat, so I don't think I'll be putting BAHA out of business any time soon.

Anything for you, Steve dear! I'll bring the blue paint and an extra set of ears just for you!! You'll have to bring your own loincloth, though. Sorry.

I think your Dr's did a poor job of administering your Botox, I think you should demand your money back...
-
Capt Deb, you would make a cute Smurf too. I can't imagine doing 28 little faces too. That really gives you a gold star for the day. You do look super!
You could really scare newbies if you show up in blue in Cinncinnati! See what my surgeon did wrong!!!

Sadie loooved it! I thought about making her into "Avadog" but I didn't have enough blue paint. She also doesn't hold still for very long. We went to see Avatar again on Sunday, this time we drove off the mountain to see it in 3D. It was like a whole other movie!! I kept trying to catch the Tree of Souls seeds that were drifting in front of my face. What a wonderful message the movie has--that we are all connected. Kind of like us here on the Forum!

Cap't Deb, I'll go with you to Pandora any old day!! Of course, I give the story a B-, but the special effects an A+++++. I know it's hard to come up with an original idea and still be commercially successful, but I thought the writers could have come up with something a bit more creative than the usual big bad corporations wiping out indigenous population, as we've seen variations on this theme many times. I've read many a Sci-Fi story and I do recall one where humans were transformed to creatures that could live and explore an alien environment (one of the giant gas planets) and when one person was sent out to go find out where the other's had gone when they didn't return, he found out that he, as this new alien, had a whole new world to explore and did not chose to return to his human form, just like the rest of the explorers. It was a short story I believe. And Cameron did steal a bit from Dinetopia with the flying bird things and bonding with the rider, but STILL!! The flying scenes and the night scene in the forest with the glowing plants - I forgive him!! It's not like I could have come up with something better, that's for sure. AND the 3-D was amazing. :)

Too cool Capt. Avatar was awesome...going to see it again at the Imax this week. I agree about the story...very derivative but what isn't these days. tough to come up with a sci-fi story that hasn't been done and have it be something that folks can relate to. As a long time sci fi fan i thought of Alan Dean Fosters "Midworld" right down to the planet fighting back...lots of other similar stories too of course. Still...the special efects take us to a whole new realm of movie making. I hear they are remastering a LOT of old movies in the new 3D...lord of the rings, start wars...should be fun.
-
They had a trailer of the new Alice In Wonderland 3D directed by Tim Burton with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. I can't wait for that one!!!! Now that is a story!!

What a bunch of boneheads! :P
Pretty amazing job there Deb! I scrolled down expecting the first pic to look like Joan Rivers. Needless to say you look far better than Joan Rivers, even painted blue with funky ears and all.
-
You goofball! My heart nearly stopped when I read the post headline!
I must agree with DR - you look great, "even painted blue with funky ears and all."

Don't know how I've missed this post - but what a hoot! So cool of you and Dr. Love to do that! I haven't seen Avatar yet, not my usual type of movie, but I may have to go see it now. And, thanks for the heads-up about the Alice in Wonderland movie...not my favorite story, but anything with Johnny Depp in it, is a must see for me - and in 3-D!
Keep on having fun, Capt!

;D My son has seen the movie 2x in 3 days in going back.....I gotta get out to see it...i haven't been to a movie theater since the big A was removed...could be very interesting especially w/ the 3D and my supersonic hearing in my AN ear.
