Hello friends!
I am writing to let you know that my mom, Lynn, had translab surgery yesterday and the doctor reported that he removed the whole tumor in just under 8 hours. She is doing remarkably well, I think, but is experiencing extreme stiffness in her neck and her head aches more than I can imagine. I share this because I know many of you can relate and you know that she is on the upswing.
I also want to share with you a touching experience from yesterday, one that reflects what an incredible community this AN Forum is. As I was waiting in the waiting room yesterday and hoping for the best, I was really touched because Scarlet and Rich just happened to be at MGH and stopped in to introduce themselves and give me their wishes for my mom's surgery and speedy recovery. Thank you Scarlet and Rich for that and thank you to this forum for all of the well wishes, insight and support you have given to Lynn.
Happy trails,
Vicki

Great news Vicki,
A sore neck is a very common thing after surgery. It will get better in the next week. Hang in there with her. You'll never know how important your being there is to her recovery. Glad to hear the good news. Thanks for the update.

Great news, Vicki!
So glad to hear things went well, and less than 8 hours. That is good.
First 3 days are usually "icky" but sounds like she is doing great.
Gentle hugs,
Maureen

Thanks so much for the update on your mom! It appears to have been a very successful surgery. Congratulations to Lynn and may her recovery be rapid and complete. Take good care of her - and yourself, too.

Hi Vicki and Lynn
I'm so glad the surgery is behind you. Here's to hoping that you can get on top of the pain with meds so that head isn't so achy and neck isn't so painful.
Welcome to the postie side!!! May your recovery be continually better day by day!

Vicki,
Thanks for taking the time to update us. I'm sure you must be pretty exhausted too.
I'm so glad to hear your mom is doing well - of course we all knew she would do just fine!
That was so nice of Scarlett and Rich to stop by to see you. I know it must have meant a lot to you. We're all there in spirit, but I'll bet it was a welcome relief to have someone there in person.
Tell mom to feel better soon!

thanks for the update on your mom. I'm glad her surgery is over and she's doing well.
Mike is right - a stiff neck is very common post op. It's a result of the way the head is positioned during surgery. The soreness and stiffness will go away in time.
I'm glad you got to meet Rich & Scarlett; they are both wonderful members of our Forum.
Please give your mom our best and tell her we are anxiously waiting for her to be able to post again.

Way to go, Lyn!! My thoughts, and prayers as well as good wishes are with you. Rich and Scarlett are super people, you are so fortunate to have met them. I met them at our last brunch. Hope to see everyone soon at the next brunch.
Stay strong, and take one day at a time.
God Bless you,

Vicki,
I hope your mom is doing well and that her headaches deminish soon. I am so glad to hear the surgery went well and that they got it all.
I know I found everyone on this forum to be of huge help. I haven't had my surgery yet, nor do I know when it's scheduled. I just hope I have all the support that your family has had for your mom.
Take care and tell her we all wish her the best!
Hugs!

Hi everyone,
I really want to thank you all SO much for all the support for myslf & my family. Rich & Scarlet still have Vicki in tears with their visit and I found it beyond touching. Vicki was so impressed with ALL the suppot from all of you.
I am doing very well. The neck has looseened up tremendously ( I really had an exceptional accupuncherest & theray gal work on me for about a month before surgery). My head ache has subsided some BUT I an still pretty LOOPY.
I will try to grt back on the forum a little more. Typing is a little more off than mormal, plwase excuse.
The Magic Scarf will be off to KIWI as soon as I can get a picture with my hair washed. It is a wonderful symbol & seems to make you very at peace with yourself.
Love You All,
Lynn
