I haven't posted on the forum in a long time but I have been reading about all of you. My husband Lynn, is the one with the tumor and we have been in the watch and wait mode since May of 2007. Due to a growth spurt of 5 millimeter in a six month period he will be having the gamma knife radiation at the Methodist hopital in Memphis, Tn. The date hasn't been set yet but the neurosurgeon said probably between now and Christmas. We are very happy to finally be getting treatment. This isn't the treatment Lynn wanted, he wanted the tumor out of his head, but due to other health issues the surgery isn't an option.

It has to be a relief to finally have the decision made to go on to treatment. I would not have been a good "wait and watcher." Sorry he is having other health issues but at least you can move forward with stopping the pesky AN in its tracks.
Thoughts and prayers.

GK is a very good option - my doc does it, in addition to surgery, and I seriously considered it myself. I don't know what Lynn's other health problems are, but radiation is obviously less invasive than surgery and the recovery time will be much shorter.
I'm confident everything will work out well for him.
Please return to the forum to let us know how things work out for Lynn. He - and you - will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Best,
Jan

Thanks for the update on your husband's decision to have the Gamma Knife treatment next month. Although I'm sorry Lynn cannot have the surgery he would have preferred, GK is time-tested and usually has good results. Well be looking for the GK date and of course, thinking of and praying for both you and Lynn as you go through this, together.

Thanks everyone. Lynn's other health issues are heart problems, he has had a heart attack and is have problems with stable angina and emphyzema. His cardiologist said he was a high risk for surgery so gamma knife it is.

Wishing for a good outcome for you and Lynn.

Thinking back, I think that was the hardest decision I had ever made in my life. But once it was over, I felt the weight of the world was off my shoulders. It makes the treatment alot easier to handle. I will keep you in our prayers. Debi

Hendi,
Gamma Knife it is then! He will be glad to at least have it taken care of, though the AN will still be hanging around, shriveling up etc.
Brain surgery is a big deal, his recovery will be so easy. Lots going on this Dec. You are all in my prayers.
Take care,
Maureen

Hi Hendi,
Best wishes to Lynn for his treatment. Nothing is ever certain in the world of ANs, but there is a good chance that GK will take care of the AN for him and cause him no further trouble. We will be pulling for him.
