Hi everyone,
Tomorrow I'm going to try and complete the Baltimore marathon. I've been in a training group since July and have given up sleeping on Saturday mornings to run run run hours and hours and hours! My first (and so far, only) marathon was about a year ago. I had an AN at the time but didn't find out until a few days later. Now, I'm returning to Baltimore where I had my surgery. My first marathon tme was 5:19. I was hoping to break 5:00 in this one, but I fell the other day and whacked my knee! It's bruised and I hope it doens't factor into tomorrow's run. I'll be happy and thankful to finish, and I'll let you know how it goes!
I wish I could qualify for Boston and then come back up and crash the luncheon in April! If I keep my 5:ish marathon time when I'm 80, then I'll BQ!
I appreciate everyone's support throughout the months I've been on this forum. I haven't been on as much lately, and I'd like to figure out who's who and what with the newbies and also how my 'regular' buddies are doing.

Keri,
You're going to do awesome! I hope the knee behaves and doesn't give you any trouble.
"The miracle is not that I finished the race. The miracle is that I had the courage to start". (forgot the name of the running dude that said that).
Good luck to a very courageous lady!

Keri:
I've never been a runner, but have considered taking it up. I'm a walker, and lately I've been getting headaches during my walks. Don't know that I'll ever make it as a runner. How do you do it?
Good luck tomorrow.

Good luck, Keri ;D
A colleague of mine is running the Chicago Marathon tomorrow - hope she has a nice pair of long undies! It's darn cold in Chi-town this weekend :o

Central and Iowa is having light snow this am. Now just looks like flurries but more earlier. Feels like Dec out. Record cold tonight too. Not good for harvest time! I am not liking the earlier evening darkness as makes me not want to go outside and goof up the balance.

Hi everyone,
Thank you, everyone!
I did it in 5:08:18ish. That beat my last year's time. Boy there were times where it felt like everything hurt! I was so thankful and happy to see mile marker 25. Then I knew I could run a little faster and it would be over soon! It was fun, in a painful sort of way. But good pain, of course! (can say that now that it's over).
Jan - my husband's run Chicago twice (maybe 3??) One year he had trained to hard and it was supposed to be his BIG race so he could qualify for Boston. Well, that was the year it was record breaking hot. He ran really slowly instead and tried not to mess himself up.
I have a friend running Chicago. I'm glad it's not too warm! Spectators may not have as much fun!
Thanks,
Keri

Keri ~
Congratulations - well done! Like Jan, I can't imagine running even a short distance, much less 26 miles - for over 5 hours. I somewhat envy your fitness. Now, take a rest.

Congratulations! I've never been a runner but, as a spectator, can appreciate how much discipline it takes to participate in a marathon. Just amazing! Kudos to you!!!

Nice work, Keri. I bet standing around the finish line for 10 minutes and thinking "last year I was still running at this time" felt good. Did it feel shorter? :)
Great to see you back at it after surgery. Life goes on!

Keri, that is great...congratulations. I know it takes a huge commitment of training several months leading up to the event to be able to complete it like you did. Great job.
I've just started training for another half marathon (about 3 months away) and still can't imagine going twice that far. You definitely are an inspiration to me. If I can get the next half marathon done in good shape, I think I'll try my first full marathon in about a year.
Again, nice going.

Great accomplishment Keri. 5 hours and 8 minutes of running...just thinking about how many minutes that is wears me out! Hope you are recovering ok ;)
