Scheduled for translab at NYU on 10/14 with Drs. Roland & Golfinos.
MY AN diagnosed 2-1/2 years ago began very small, 2.5 mm. Now 9 mm. hearing in left ear gone (can now put my hearing aid on Ebay), minor balance problems, constant tinnitus. Can't wait to get this thing over and done with.
-
We wish you well on the 14th, Ronnie! Have you put the date on the calendar so we can be sure to cheer you on? Several here have used Roland & Golfinos - perhaps you've been in touch with them...love your comment about putting your hearing aid on ebay :D
Take care!

Best of luck Ronnie. I'm in my own waiting period, so I know what your are going through. Please let us know how things go.

Hi Ronnie,
I think we exchanged emails back in the begining of 2007. Tell Dr's Rolnd and Golfinos I said hello, you are in great hands.

Thanks to all for all your good wishes and yes Joe we did communicate back in 2007.

Ronnie -
Drs. Roland & Golfinos have a very good reputation - you'll be in great hands.
Did you put your surgery date on the AN Calendar?

How do I get to the calendar?

I don't really know, I just click the link in the signature at the bottom of any of my posts. :)

Glad you have a surgery date. That is so much better than waiting and wondering (at least it was be for me!). Now you can make preparations and plans.

Ronnie ~
Locking in a surgery date is always a bit of a relief. I'm glad you have yours. I put it on the famous AN Treatment Calendar found here: http://www.my.calendars.net/an_treatments/d14/10/2009?authenticate=&display=M&style=B (http://www.my.calendars.net/an_treatments/d14/10/2009?authenticate=&display=M&style=B)

Ronnie .....
You have a terrific attitude so I know you will do well on Wednesday. You may not feel like you did well for the first three days ..... but, remember the F3D rule, they do not count! :-*
Many thoughts and prayers!

Hey Ronnie -
Just wanted to give you a big virtual hug and re-iterate that you are in great hands!
Did anyone tell you that you will be walking into the OR? Fortunately, someone told me ahead of time, otherwise I might have feinted on the spot! It was strangely empowering, though, to walk in on my own and greet the surgical team. Drs Golfinos and Roland and their team will take excellent care of you!
sending you calming thoughts,
Debbi

thanks for the hug - walking into the OR! I'm going to need a big sedative to do that! Deb - did you have to do any physical therapy before you left the hospital?
-
Ronnie-
Hope all went well and you are now recovering...

I'm sure you won't be reading this for a while, but I'm hoping all went well today.
Looking forward to seeing you as a postie!

Ronnie, I ,too, am hoping your surgery was a success and that you are on the road to recovery. Definitely do not count the first three days! :D

Hoping all went well this week and that you will be headed home over the weekend! (Sorry, I just now saw the question about vestibular rehab - my balance was okay, so no rehab needed.)
-
Hello all! Came home yesterday, everything went very well. It was an acoustic neuroma. Great doctors, great hospital. I was told it took 2 hours to get to the little thing and 8 minutes to get it out. So far I am just having some minor balance problems.
-
Welcome to postie land, Ronnie! And you're home - great to be there, I know. Sounds like you're doing very, very well. Congratulations - "enjoy" your recovery time...take your naps! The balance should adjust pretty quickly (everyone varies, of course)...did they give you any exercises to do for it?

Hi, Ronnie ~
Thanks for the update - and welcome back, 'postie'! I was glad to learn that your surgery went well and that you're back home. Now, rest, relax and heal. :)

Welcome to Postie Land!
Sounds like it went well.
Rest....rest...rest!

Ronnie-
Sounds great...take your time recovering.
Talk to you soon.

Ronnie,
Great news! Only took two hours to get to it and 8 minutes to get it out. That just might be a record for the shortest surgery. Congratulations!
But you DID have brain surgery so take it easy, lots of rests, naps. Walking is the best way to get your balance back.
Good luck in the recovery. Let us know how it goes.
You ROCKED it!
