I am so excited!!! The last time I bowled was the day of my diagnosis on 11/14/08. I was scared to death as we all are when we first get this awful news. That afternoon, I asked my kids to go bowling with me. I remember the pins were moving and I was all over the lanes, but I did it back then just to prove to myself that I didn't have to lose everything to this AN.
Now, almost a year later, 3 surgeries, and within 2 weeks of going back to work, we went bowling!! The pins didn't move at all and although I may not have walked in an exactly straight line, I was just dandy!!!
Bowled a 122 and a 186!!!
Just had to share - I'm getting into the time of year where I begin marking milestones - one year from first MRI, one year from visit with ENT who said I had a gait dysfunction and sent me on my way, one year from meeting my neurosurgeon who saved my life, and so on..... I am so grateful to be here to mark these days and I can't wait to bowl again!!!
Celebrate things both big and small!!!!

Congrats on the bowling milestone!
I'm not much of a bowler, so I haven't tried it post AN surgery - but it's nice to know it's possible to bowl if I want to.

Hi Kathy!
AWESOME - that is 'kul'!
I am the worlds worst bowler, but it still is fun for me.
I bet it was nice to NOT see the pins moving around!
Enjoying the moments of your life - time with your kids, bowling, that is great!
Congrats!
Sue

If I added up the scores from EVERY time I'd ever bowled - it still wouldn't beat your 122!
But, the important part isn't the score, it's that you got out there and did it and had fun!
Did they put the bumpers up for you? ;)

Thanks for sharing this, Kathy! Glad you had a good time and did SO well!. I haven't thought about bowling for years...may have to go give it a try. That really is a vestibular challenge, I imagine!

Kathy ~
I'm duly impressed by your successful attempt at bowling. It's not my game and I've only bowled occasionally so I never score well. However, I never considered it a type of vestibular exercise, as Cindy mentioned, so I may give it a try one of these days, just to see how it goes. I also want to try riding a bicycle but can't seem to find the opportunity to do so, although I hope to do it before winter sets in. But I digress....I really want to congratulate you on achieving yet another milestone in your recovery. It's very encouraging and fun to read about your latest post-op accomplishment - so please, keep them coming!
