Title: How much is a BAHA?
Post by: epodjn on August 31, 2009, 03:42:06 pm
I just called my insurance and they will cover a BAHA at 80%. The surgery is covered at 100% after my 50.00 deductible. So I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how much I'm looking at. The more I think about it the more I want it. I got so tired, all weekend, of having to try and turn so I could hear people, and still not really hearing them. But I don't want to make an appointment and try the demo until I know I can afford it, or not. Trying the demo would really get me excited and I dont want a big let down if i can't afford it.

Well here in Canada, I was told $6000.00.  I was lucky and got in under a hospital funding and it will only cost me a grand of which my CHAMPVA will cover 75% of their allowable amount...

Julie -

the answer to your question is "it depends".

When I asked Cochlear how much it will cost me to upgrade to a BP100, they said I should talk to my doc since that is his decision.  Doc and I had preliminary conversations a few weeks ago.

The cost of the device (Divino, Intenso, BP100) depends on how much your doc's office wants to charge you - that is, how much of a profit they want to make on the transaction.

I had my implant surgery in 3/08 and was charged $4,000 for my Divino.
