Title: 6 months post op
Post by: Jill on July 20, 2009, 03:57:08 pm
I am 6 months post op today!  Still trying to figure things out.  I am a little concerned that things seem to be getting worse, not better.  I called the neurosurgeon today to see if they have any suggestions.    My hearing is pretty good but my face still feels like I have had a tooth filled.  I keep looking in the mirror to make sure my face is moving and it is but it sure doesn't feel right.  This weekend the numbness started on my AN side of my tongue also.  Is that normal?  All in all I feel very blessed.  I check in every day with all of you and your chats are a great comfort to me.

Jill .....

I do not know much about your situation, other than the size of your AN at diagnosis and that you were scheduled for surgery in Cincinnati.  Did you have retrosigmoid or middle fossa approach (at least I assume it was one of those two since you say your hearing is pretty good)?

I'm sorry you are having worsening symptoms.  Did you have a six-month follow-up MRI with contrast?  If not, I would hope your neurosurgeon would order one to check things (and for your peace of mind!).

Please let us know how you are doing ..... we really care about each other!

Jill,
Did they mention the facial nerve was stretched during the surgery?
sounds like residual facial nerve stuff, which should go away I would imagine with time. Just keep track of your symptoms like you are doing. That's the best you can do.
Let us know what the doc says-I'm curious to know.
