Title: this week (7/19) in the valorous world of AN
Post by: Keri on July 19, 2009, 09:58:54 pm
I wanted a word that was synonymous with courageous. I feel like we're all (not necessarily by choice) courageous in our AN journey. We're having or have had surgery or radiation, or are watching and waiting and researching our options. Many here have had difficult challenges and are coping, sharing and hanging in there. All I've met on this forum are very helpful and encouraging to others. I would put all this in the 'courageous' category.

Here's a great quote I found when we were visiting the USAF Memorial:
“Courage is doing what you are afraid to do.” Captain Eddie Rickenbacken; airman WWI; from the United Stated Air Force Memorial, Arlington, VA
It made me realize we can be courageous even when we feel nervous and are doubting at times.

I guess that's enough rambling.. onto the calendar:

July 24th - TxNurseNoelle will be having translab somewhere in Texas? Noelle, if you read this, do you mind sharing where you're having your surgery? You mentioned you lived in a small town. I hope and pray all goes well with the surgery and NONE of the cardio stuff you've been dealing with is a hindrance in any way. I hope you can get the support and help you need post op. I hope someone can post for you and you can let us know how you're doing. All the best to you, Noelle.

There is nothing else listed on the calendar. Does anyone know if there's any other procedures, doc appts, etc? If so, please share.

From last week, I believe Helga has a postie update, and Donnalynn has shared about her MRA, and LADavid about his balance treatments.

The NYC people had a reunion luncheon (pictures available!) and the AN book club has started analyzing Henry's time travels.

There; done by midnight!
Have a good week,
Keri

Tres Bon, Keri.  I like your headline.  It says a lot.  It is what we face before and endure everyday after and it is what sees us through.  As for me, I am finished with my in-clinic training -- now just dealing with the in-home regime for the next seven weeks.  Check the Balance Topic for updates.  And best wishes for a successful surgery, TxNurseNoelle -- you have a lot of Texas company --especially around Houston.

Keri,

Thanks as always for the update.

David == Good to see you back == I hope your balance is improving!

Good luck Noelle== wishing you smooth sailing as possible and no complications

Keri -- I also realized I forgot to put my one year ANniversary  -- July 25,on the calendar thanks to your update and have added it to the calendar. It's hard to believe it's been almost a year.

Bon chance, Noelle!

I was supposed to have my neurotologist follow-up today, but as usual, I got bumped.  I've brushed it off til fall since we're finally having summer up here and I don't want to miss a day of it driving to Boston.

Keri .....

Thanks again for your well thought out words of encouragement to all!!

Noelle, my thoughts and prayers for a textbook surgery and quick recovery!

David, keep us up to date on how you are progressing with the balance study ..... alas, none of the study program sites were close enough to me to be practical to try to participate.  Not sure I was up to the task anyway ...... so glad you are able to do it!

Keri ~

Thanks and appreciation for the weekly update, complete with a convoluted yet significant title.

I join many others in wishing 'Nurse Noelle' a very successful and uncomplicated Translab surgery on Friday (24th).

Happy 1-year ANniversary to Wendy.

It's not on the calendar - but Happy Birthday to my lovely and gracious wife, Tina, on Tuesday (21st).  :)

Hi Jan,

I hope you're well!  It is very hard believe almost a year has gone by in most ways, yet in others it seem longer.  This summer is a lot more fun than last summer was!   ;D

We’d like to send our thoughts and prayers to Nurse Noelle for a successful and uncomplicated surgery tomorrow.

And LADavid, it’s great to see you posting again.  We are very sorry that you are having increased AN issues, but hope that you have excellent results with the clinical study you are participating in.  Thank you for your participation, it can’t be easy.

Jim please pass along a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY too Tina :)

Happy 1 yr. Postie Anniversary this Saturday Wendy.  Look familiar :)

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. At this time a  year ago today, I was in surgery and blissfully unaware of what was going on but dreaming (?) of a reunion with my parents and my dog Princess (deceased).  I was the first recipient of  the Magic Scarf which  Debbi gave me  a week before my surgery at our first NY/NJ luncheon and  I sent it to Sue in New Hampshire, who added the journal (a great idea Sue!)  She must have made an entry for me.  I've never seen it before, but it's nice to know I'm in there!  Where is the Scarf now, does anyone know?  I've lost track of it.
