Title: Return from gamma knife
Post by: tony on December 06, 2006, 08:37:28 am
Just to say I am safely back from the gamma knife session
- no ill effects apart from my nerves
Interesting, the 10 yr follow up study from Hallamshire gamma knife
is about to be updated to 15yrs - not out yet
basically they are saying no major change than on the 10 yrs study
which is good news, methinks
I await the full report
Best regards
Tony

Tony,
Glad to hear you have finished the treatment with no ill affects.  Your "nerves" can now begin to return to normal.  The nervousness is one of the most difficult parts of getting treament for AN.  No matter how much you read about possible treatment affects, on an emotional level you're allowing someone to mess with your brain and that's a little scary.  Now that it's over, you can begin to get on with your life.  Congratualations.
Regards,
 Rob

 :)

Congratulations!  That is fabulous.  I'm at my fifth day out, mark.  I was taken back at the long "build-up" and more than exhaustion I'm experiencing from CK.  I hope you don't go through the big *let-down* of the body change/mind-set and exhaustion from stress and everything.  You sound good.  Thank you for letting us know.  Keep us posted and I still didn't have to take my steroid pill and I think I'm going to slide by without major swelling.

Good luck,

Palace

Congrats Tony! Thrilled your session is now complete. Please make sure you get your rest (you know the fatigue factor) and onward to wellness!

Thrilled for you!

Congrats Tony from another NF2. I had not realized you were taking the plunge so called I guess. Here is hoping that GK does the trick for you also. I am nearing my 6 month MRI in last week of December. Feels like its still doing something in my head. I have the same symptoms I did when this all started almost 2 years ago-so I hoping that is a result from swelling. MY hearing is not very good though. It sounds like I am on the wrong radio station and if you could just turn the dial it would become clearer. Went to my ENt and Audiologist said that they may look at one hearing aid to clarify sounds in my only hearing ear. Well you are the one that can prove the literature wrong. Most articles I read that said GK was too intrusive on the hearing nerve. Good Luck-Well actually you need more than luck like the rest of us. Here is wishing you well. Ron

Hi Tony...

I am delighted that your GK treatment session at Sheffield appears to have went so well for you. I do hope that the eventual full report contains continuing good news. Well  done Tony and very best wishes to you.
